Texas A&M Cornerback Tyreek Chappell Lost for Season Due to Injury
A&M defense loses key player
Texas A&M will be without starting cornerback Tyreek Chappell for the remainder of the 2023 season due to an injury.
Chappell, a redshirt sophomore from Lancaster, Texas, has started all three games for the Aggies this season.
He has recorded 12 tackles and three pass breakups.
Chappell a big loss for Aggies
Chappell’s injury is a big loss for the Aggies, who are already thin at the cornerback position.
Sophomore Bryce Anderson is expected to start in Chappell’s place.
Anderson has played in all three games this season, recording five tackles.
Injury occurred against Appalachian State
Chappell suffered the injury in the Aggies' 17-14 loss to Appalachian State on Saturday.
He left the game in the second quarter and did not return.
The Aggies are now 1-2 on the season.
Other injuries for the Aggies
Chappell is the second starting defensive player that the Aggies have lost to injury this season. Safety Bryce Anderson was lost for the season with a knee injury in the season opener against Sam Houston.
The Aggies will need to find a way to replace Chappell and Anderson if they want to be successful this season.
Upcoming schedule for the Aggies
The Aggies will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to College Station to take on the No. 13 Miami Hurricanes. Get tickets here.
They will then open SEC play on Sept. 24 against the Arkansas Razorbacks in Arlington, Texas.
