Canucks Grab Home-Ice Advantage In Key Divisional Battle
Edmonton falls 5-2 to Vancouver in Pacific Division showdown
Nugent-Hopkins records 3 points, DeSmith impresses with 37 saves for Canucks
The Edmonton Oilers suffered a disappointing setback in their quest for the Pacific Division lead, falling 5-2 to the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Place on Saturday night. Despite a valiant effort that saw Ryan Nugent-Hopkins tally three points and the Oilers outshoot their opponents 40-16, they were unable to overcome a strong performance from Vancouver.
Sam Lafferty played the hero for the Canucks, scoring the game-winning goal and his first as a member of the team. Casey DeSmith was equally impressive between the pipes, making 37 saves to secure the victory for Vancouver.
The loss drops the Oilers to five points behind the Canucks in the Pacific Division standings. They will look to bounce back in their next game, a home matchup against the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night.
