CrowdStrike Faulty Update Causes Worldwide Tech Disaster
Estimated 85 Million Windows Devices Affected
CrowdStrike Pledges to Enhance Testing Process
A faulty update from cybersecurity software company CrowdStrike has caused a worldwide tech disaster, affecting an estimated 85 million Windows devices, according to Microsoft. The outage began on Friday, with companies in Australia reporting issues with their Windows operating systems. The update, meant to patch vulnerabilities, instead triggered a chain reaction that resulted in widespread device malfunctions.
The company has since acknowledged the issue and promised to improve its testing process. CrowdStrike said that the faulty update affected less than 1 percent of Windows machines globally, and that it is working to resolve the problem and provide a fix as soon as possible.
